zTo get the most out of your AI chatbot, you need to make sure it has all the necessary context for your use case. Granularity and clarity of data sources that you add to your chatbot heavily impacts its response quality and accuracy.
In this guide, we will show step-by-step on how to add different types of data sources to your Chatbit AI chatbot. While adding any source type is optional, we recommend adding at least the URLs and most frequently asked questions that you expect in Q&A.
Source Types
You can upload files, add URLs and provide simple text in your sources. It’s important to understand that ultimately all sources that you add end up converted to plain text.
If your source files or website has too complex structure, you may want to cherry pick the important information for your chatbot and upload it as Q&A or Text.
URL
Simply provide a website URL and “Add” it.
Enabling "Include internal links" will add +1 level of URLs it finds on the page from the same domain according to your plan limits.
To get more sources in, provide more URLs that link to diverse set of pages, for example FAQ pages.
Once URLs are added, click "Save".
Q&A
Shorthand for “questions and answers”, this is a powerful source which is prioritized if a customer asks a question that is similar to the Question field, and responds in a similar manner as the Answer field.
We recommend populating this with your website FAQ or Knowledge Base content, and refine it over-time if you see that chatbot struggles to answer the customer question properly via the logs.
Files
You can upload chatbot context with .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt file types. For best results, use files that do not use heavy design formatting. Keep in mind that any images or graphics from richer documents will not be used in the context. This source type translated pages to text without processing images.
Text
Free-form text field where you can add context. Similar to Q&A you can add generic data here, for example list of useful URLs that chatbot can refer customers to, or contact details.
This source type is useful to provide list of your website URLs for your chatbot to decide what to link to customer in a conversation, for example.
Next steps
After adding Sources, we recommend proceeding with Model settings, where you can adjust chatbot’s behaviour and functionality.
